Position Matters: Are You Missing Out On 33% of Your Potential Clients?

Every business Position matters are you missing oout on 33% of your potential clientsknows that it must have a strong online presence to survive today’s economy. But what if your approach to online marketing meant that you’re missing one-third of your potential clients?

A recent study from the online ad network, Chitika found that companies occupying the top spot on Google’s organic search result captured 33 percent of the traffic. The second position managed to pull in 18 percent of online traffic. Companies that rank in the fifth position garner only 6.1 percent of traffic.

If you’re not ranking in the top five spots on an organic (non-paid) Google search, it’s almost as if you don’t exist.

Those are pretty sobering statistics. So the obvious question becomes: How can you get your company to show up at the top of the heap? How about an answer directly from the lips (or keyboard) of Google?

“Sites’ positions in our search results are determined based on hundreds of factors designed to provide end-users with helpful, accurate search results. In general, webmasters can improve the rank of their sites by creating high-quality sites that users will want to use and share.” (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/34432?hl=en emphasis added)

That’s what’s really behind search engine optimization (SEO). In a nutshell it comes down to delivering quality content that your audience wants. That means constantly creating new content that answers customer questions and empowers them to make good choices that benefit them. People aren’t looking for content that’s all about you and why your company, products or services are so great. They’re seeking information that will help solve their problems or answer their questions.

One thing we’ve observed as we’ve helped businesses get noticed on the Web is that many companies simply aren’t aware of how they rank for searches compared to their competitors. They may have a web presence, but they don’t know if their website is actually generating leads for them. It’s hard to fix something when you don’t even know that it’s broken.  If you’d like to increase the traffic coming to your website, leverage your website to drive visitors to action and integrate your marketing efforts in order to improve your lead-to-customer conversion rate, request a free inbound marketing consultation. It will help you understand where you rank, how you measure up against the competition, and what to do about it.

Why miss out on 33 percent of your potential customers when you can take simple steps that will help them find you right away?
